Google matters

It is amazing just how many companies still don't have a website, or if they do, do nothing with it. The content hasn't changed since 2005, or there is no engagement with the audience just an online brochure, but it is so important in the overall mix. Traditional business is just not the same since the growth of web pages; if you don't have a website, the assumption by your potential new customers is that something is not quite right, or you're just not on the map! We also have to acknowledge that in this relatively new world of doing business online, where people are looking to purchase goods or a service, Google™ is the major player.

  • 94% of Australian searches last month were on Google (source:Hitwise)
  • 95% of people never looked past the first page of results (source:icrossing)
  • 80% of user’s time is spent without scrolling (source:Jakob Nielsen)

So if your business can’t be found on the first page of a Google search, your business is not going to be found. Your competitors, who are found on Google, will get all of the online business AND influence a lot of the off line business. 62% of all purchases of products and services that are made off line, are influenced by what is seen online (Jupiter Research), many people research online first.

So get into action, make your website interactive, up-to-date and content rich. Have your website be an important part of your overall marketing mix.
